World Cup Group D omissions

Right-back Andreas Beck (Hoffenheim) is the only remaining casualty from the Germany squad which has been riddled with injury approaching the finals. Full-back Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich) takes on the captaincy from Michael Ballack (Chelsea), who failed to recover from the injury he sustained in the FA Cup final.

Midfielder Laryea Kingston (Hearts) is the high-profile omission from Ghana's final squad, with veterans of that team's 2006 World Cup campaign, defender Eric Addo (Roda) and midfielder Haminu Dramani (Lokomotiv Moscow) also missing out.

Defender Rhys Williams (Middlesbrough) failed to regain fitness from a pelvic injury so will not make the tournament for Australia while defender Shane Lowry (Aston Villa) and midfielders Tommy Oar (Utrecht) and James Holland (Alkmaar) have also been omitted.

Goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic (Vojvodina Novi Sad) is the only exception from the Serbian squad.
