French team falters

It seems France is in meltdown in their World Cup preparations after losing 1-0 to China. A 68th minute strike from Deng Zhuoxing was enough to see his team through to full-time despite some frantic French pressure in the latter stages.

In their previous warm-up match, the French were less than convincing as they drew 1-1 with Tunisia and it was only a late winner that saved their blushes against Costa Rica.

Perhaps the surrendering of the captaincy by Thierry Henry (due to the coach not guaranteeing him playing time and using him in a super-sub role) to Patrice Evra has had something to do with it?

Still - it is not about how you start - it's how you finish...
